Ketep Pass [Viewing Post]


Ketep Pass is a mountain tourism is one of the mainstays in the province of Central Java. Mountain tourist spot was unveiled in 2002. This tourist attraction located in the District Sawangan, Magelang, Central Java. About 3 hours journey from provincial capital, Semarang, or 1 hour from the city of Magelang with motor vehicles.

Ketep Pass located at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, Ketep Pass offers gorgeous views of the typical mountain. In addition, you can also pamper the eyes with a look at three other mountains, that Sindoro, Sumbing, and Slamet. When the views of five mountain is not enough, you will still be able to see some hills, namely Bukit Tidar, Andong, Menoreh, and Telomoyo. In Ketep Pass there is a museum of volcanology. In the museum there are miniature Mt Merapi, complete with examples of rocks coming out of the mountain. There are also Ketep Volcano Theatre, a documentary film about the place of Mount Merapi, which tells of the origin, climbing routes, as well as some of the eruption of Mount Merapi. To see more clearly the five mountains, two binoculars are available, namely in the substation of view and at the top of Panca Arga - supreme location (which means five mountains, because from here visitors can see five mountain time).
